Introducing Michele Goodwin

We’re excited to introduce and welcome Michele Goodwin to our blogging community as a regular contributor.

Michele is the Everett Fraser Professor in Law at the University of Minnesota. She holds joint appointments at the University of Minnesota Medical School and the University of Minnesota School of Public Health.  Prior to law teaching, Michele was a Gilder-Lehrman post-doctoral fellow at Yale University.  Michele is the founder and Executive Director of the Institute for Global Child Advocacy.  She was a Visiting Professor at the University of Chicago and a Visiting Scholar at the University of California-Berkeley.

Michele’s research concerns the role of law in the promotion and regulation of medicine, science, and biotechnology.   Her teaching and research spans the curriculum, including torts, constitutional law, constitutional torts, health law policy, biotechnology, bioethics, and socio-legal theory.   Reviews of her work appear in the New England Journal of Medicine, Nature, Publisher’s Weekly, Law and Politics Book Review, Book News, and the Library Journal, amongst other periodicals. Michele is the author/editor of four books and over sixty articles and book chapters.  Her forthcoming books with Cambridge University Press include: Altruism’s Limits & The Global Body Parts Market: The Law & Politics of Regulating Contestable Commodities (2012) and Policing The Womb: The New Cultural Politics of Reproduction (2013).  Michele’s editorials and commentaries appear in the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Forbes, Gene Watch, Christian Science Monitor, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Houston Chronicle, Chicago Sun Times, and the Washington Post. She is a columnist for The Conversation at the Chronicle of Higher Education Magazine.
