Duties & Responsibilities

The Executive Director works in partnership with the Faculty Director on strategic planning and vision for the Center, and oversees the Center’s staff, activities, and collaborations, including sponsored research, fundraising, events and conferences, publications, programs for students, administration, finance, communications, and other programmatic activities.  S/he also engages in independent scholarly activities, including research and writing, lecturing, and occasional teaching, as appropriate.

The Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law invites applications for a 2016-17 visiting assistant professor position, for one or two semesters. The position would primarily involve teaching courses in the Health Law and IP curricula and participation in the scholarly and student-centered activities organized by the law school’s Hall Center for Law and Health and its Center for Intellectual Property Law and Innovation.

The Yale Law School is delighted to announce the launch of the Solomon Center for Health Law and Policy, an exciting new Center at Yale Law School dedicated to training the next generation of health law leaders—academics, CEOS, lawyers, and government officials—and having an impact today on the most important health care issues.

The Solomon Center is seeking applications for the position of Executive Director. The Solomon Center coordinates a diverse program of activities that serve students and scholars at Yale and contribute both locally and internationally to the study of health law—with a particular focus on health governance, industry and the practice of medicine.

The Executive Director, under the supervision of the Solomon Center faculty director, Professor Abbe Gluck, will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the Center.  This will include working with and helping to select student and post-graduate fellows, planning events, including workshops and the annual conference, maintaining the website, building the center’s national reputation, working on grants, supervising scholarship and projects of the center, mentoring health law students, working with the many colleagues, organizations, and interested individuals with whom the Solomon Center collaborates, both within the Law School, across Yale University and outside the University.  The Executive Director will be an ambassador of the Center. Job Description

This is a newly created full-time position for a post-doctoral employee fellow in clinical research ethics to support the work of the Petrie-Flom Center at Harvard Law School in its collaboration with the Regulatory Foundations, Ethics, and Law Program of Harvard Catalyst, Harvard’s Clinical and Translational Science Center. The fellow must have strong knowledge of clinical research and its regulation, with particular interest in the regulatory, ethical, and practical aspects associated with recruitment and retention of research participants.  The position will provide the opportunity to interact with a wide range of stakeholders, such as IRB members, administrators, investigators, institutional leadership, patient advocates, and other community members. The Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics at Brigham and Women’s Hospital Department of Medicine and Harvard Medical School invites its 2015 round of applications for postdoctoral fellows in pharmaceutical law and health services research.  Current fellows have studied FDA regulation, patents and drug access and costs, and competition in the therapeutic marketplace.  Other areas of focus include intellectual property, ethics, and comparative effectiveness, as well as the development, approval, and evidence-based use of drugs, devices, vaccines, procedures, and diagnostics.

Applications are invited from researchers with doctoral degrees (J.D., M.D., Ph.D., Pharm.D., or equivalent) or who will complete such training by July 2015.  Fellows will have an appointment at Harvard Medical School, receive close mentorship from faculty members in the Division, and engage in one or more projects intended to start their careers in law and public health research.  Fellowship length will vary depending on the candidate (min: 1 year).

Creighton University School of Law invites applications for a lateral tenured or tenure-track professor in health care law to join our faculty in Fall 2015.  Applicants should have significant academic or practice experience in the business side of health care (e.g., the financing and regulation of health care, including but not limited to the Affordable Care Act).  Creighton University has seven health care schools on its campus, as well as a College of Arts and Sciences and a College of Business, and the Law School is particularly interested in establishing interdisciplinary programs with those schools for non-JD as well as JD students.  Candidates with experience in developing such programs are especially encouraged to apply.  Candidates should have excellent academic credentials and a proven record of (or demonstrated potential for) outstanding classroom teaching and scholarship.

Research Assistant III: Work with Professors Eyal, Hammitt, Freedberg, Kuritzkes, and collaborators on HIV cure studies’ risks, risk perceptions, and ethics

The research assistant will work with the principal investigator Nir Eyal and collaborators from the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, Duke University, Massachusetts General Hospital, and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital as well as the ACTG HIV trial site network. The multidisciplinary team uses methods of clinical epidemiology, economics, simulation modeling, and normative theory to predict risks in early-phase HIV cure studies, assess how much likely candidates for participation understand those risks, and make ethical recommendations on the conduct of HIV cure studies.

The research assistant will help prepare, conduct and analyze a pilot survey expected to take place in a US site of the AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG). The survey will assess perceptions of HIV cure and of cure study risks. The research assistant will also promote other research and grant-related activities, through literature reviews and assistance in the preparation of abstract, poster, and manuscripts for publication, grant applications, a simple project website (using Harvard’s user-friendly OpenScholar platform), and slides for lectures and seminars. The research assistant will be in touch with top researchers in HIV cure, medical decision making, and ethics from around the country, to facilitate our meetings, a workshop, and regular conversations to plan the research and debate ethical issues around early-phase HIV cure studies.
